QUESTION 3. Whom do you admire most and why?
I admire Gabor Maté the Hungarian Canadian physician, speaker, and author known for his work in the fields of addiction, stress, childhood development, and trauma.
Gabor Maté advocates for a holistic understanding of health that considers the interconnectedness of physical, mental, and emotional well-being. He emphasizes the importance of addressing the root causes of health issues rather than merely treating symptoms.
QUESTION 4. What’s your vision for your life? Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
I see myself advocating for trauma-informed policies at the local, regional, or national level. This involves working with policymakers to integrate trauma-informed approaches into healthcare, education, and social services.
I’d like to emphasize the importance of prevention and early intervention in addressing the root causes of health issues.
I’m also visualizing more collaboration with healthcare professionals, mental health practitioners, and researchers to share insights and contribute to the development of trauma-informed practices. And establishing partnerships with professionals in related fields to amplify the impact of my advocacy efforts.
QUESTION 5. What is your “big project” at the moment?
Recently, I’ve been involved in providing support to federal government departments through Trauma-Informed Leadership Development.
This initiative is centered on helping these departments establish an environment that acknowledges and responds to the impact of trauma on individuals within the workplace, with a key emphasis on fostering support, empathy, and empowerment.
The approach prioritizes recognizing and building on individual strengths rather than focusing on deficits. This ultimately encourages a positive, strengths-based mindset that contributes to the cultivation of resilience and self-efficacy.
QUESTION 6. What has been your favourite coaching moment so far?
My favorite coaching moment thus far has been the realization that there is a growing recognition in the world of the increasing importance placed on coaches to support both personal and professional growth.
QUESTION 7. What are your Top 3 favourite coaching tools and/or resources?
- One of my favorite tools is the “At My Best Strength Cards”. This is a flexible tool that uncovers a client’s own strengths and reveals what they most value in others.
- Another one of my favorite tools are the “Cards for Belonging & Inclusion” by Games for Humanity. This tool gets to our beliefs and biases as the first step towards opening our hearts and minds to greater understanding and acceptance around diversity.
- Last tool is the The Wheel of Life from the Coaching Tools Company
QUESTION 8. What do you love most about being a coach?
What I’ve loved most about being a coach is to build lasting and empowering relationships. I have developed deep personal and business relationships with many of those I’ve coached over the years.
QUESTION 9. Tell us a secret about you…
A secret about me is that I’m still very uncomfortable about self-promotion, even though I understand the importance of doing so.
QUESTION 10. If you could change one thing in our world, what would it be? And how would you go about it?
If I could change one thing about the world, it would be to eliminate mental health issues within our society.
