QUESTION 1. What one book should every coach read – and why?
Having read many books on coaching, the most recent is The Business Book of Coaching by Ajit Nawalkha. This book turned out to be the best resource that clarified my vision of the coaching profession, given that it outlines in a practical way, the steps, approaches and resources required to begin a coaching business.
QUESTION 2. Which website do you visit the most?
There are a range of sites I visit to boost my imagination in my coaching approach, and of course, The Coaching Tools Company stands as one of those that provided the basic resources I needed to begin my coaching practice.
QUESTION 3. Whom do you admire most and why?
So far, I watch and follow the Author of The Business Book of Coaching Ajit Nawalkha. His coaching practices are worth the effort to emulate.
QUESTION 4. What’s your vision for your life? Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
I am just at my 6th year of professional level coaching, though I had been practicing at a lower level with my students for four years before.
As it stands, I am working toward creating a consultancy firm where I intend to embrace wellness coaching and consultancy from a completely different perspective than the current wellness industry.
QUESTION 5. What is your “big project” at the moment?
“BloomsCorp, Inc.” and “Ecosystems Awareness Fund”! These are my two big current projects all about sustainability, and human wellness and wellbeing.
QUESTION 6. What has been your favourite coaching moment so far?
My favourite coaching moment came when I worked with the staff of an educational institution in helping them develop employee CPD and Wellness programs.
During our working sessions, they developed and implemented strategies to improve efficiency and output.
At the start, the Senior Leadership Team didn’t believe continuing Professional Development and Workplace Wellbeing would boost output. But over the course of several sessions, they saw their employees becoming more and more committed and an increase in team spirit.
So seeing the positive impacts of coaching helped the management team realise that continuing Professional Development and Workplace Wellbeing were key factors to employees’ improved performance.
QUESTION 7. What are your Top 3 favourite coaching tools and/or resources?
There are uncountable tools used in coaching, but the very first three most important tools on the part of the coach are:
- Empathy
- Patience
- Time management
QUESTION 8. What do you love most about being a coach?
Coaching is a growing domain in the world and one that can cover an entire career, but to me, the most loved aspect about coaching is fulfilment.
QUESTION 9. Tell us a secret about you…
My calm nature is very obvious to the people around but what many find unexpected is my ability to read non-verbal communication. People are often very surprised when I observe something from their non-verbal communication that they haven’t yet realised.
QUESTION 10. If you could change one thing in our world, what would it be?
One thing that is changing the world for the worse is people’s desire to make money at all costs. This urge for money and fame is gradually killing the humanity in us such that people are now beginning to cherish material things more than fellow humans.
One way I want to help with this is with the Ecosystems Awareness Fund (website in progress!). Our mission at Ecosystems Awareness Fund is to monitor and create awareness on environmental degradation, water resource management and ecosystems protection and safeguarding.
