QUESTION 1. What one book should every coach read – and why?
Coaching for Performance by Sir John Whitmore.
Not only is it comprehensive and easy to read, but it also convinces the readers about the power of coaching. It teaches how coaching can be utilised to improve personal and professional development.
The book provides practical tips and techniques for coaches and employers to maximise the potential of the coachees and the employees. His GROW model is something that could be adopted in any 5-minute conversation to 5-hour discussions to help the coachees and employees improve their performance. I love the case studies as it makes the concepts easy to understand. I will recommend it to all the coaches starting coaching.
QUESTION 2. Which website do you visit the most?
I don’t have one particular website which I visit regularly. If I had to choose one, I would probably say Tony Robbins’s website. There are so many free resources to build the business, develop your coaching skills and for personal growth as well.
QUESTION 3. Whom do you admire most and why?
Mahatma Gandhi. I admire his simplicity, his leadership skills and his ability to consistently walk the talk. He showed me how a belief and a cause identified beyond oneself can cause revolutions without any sophisticated tools. Gandhi’s dedication to non-violence and his unwavering commitment to truth are incredibly inspiring. His life is a testament to the power of persistence and the impact one person can have on the world.
I just go back to his autobiography, My Experiments with Truth whenever I need motivation.
QUESTION 4. What’s your vision for your life? Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
My vision for my life is to make Lifeline Academy a beacon of support for professionals and leaders, guiding them towards both personal and professional excellence. I dream of helping them achieve remarkable external successes while finding profound internal peace and contentment.
In five years, I see Lifeline Academy as a renowned hub for personal and professional development, a place where individuals come to transform their lives and unlock their full potential. I want to inspire a revolution in how we approach growth and fulfilment, creating a legacy of empowered, passionate leaders who thrive in all aspects of their lives.
QUESTION 5. What is your “big project” at the moment? OR What are your Top 3 Goals at the moment?
My big project is working on my group coaching programme, Success Skippers. It is a weekly programme of six weeks which will allow the professionals and leaders to work in small groups to develop themselves and get the tools to go out and make changes in their organisations as well.
QUESTION 6. What has been your favourite coaching moment so far?
I was working with a General Practitioner who was completely lost and ready to throw in the towel. After a few sessions, we had a breakthrough and she was able to reconnect with her purpose. Then, it was easy to reignite her passion and energy. Today, she is a successful educator and leader in her organisation.
Witnessing her recognize her “why” and decide not to give up was a beautiful transformation. And, of course, I am patting myself on the back.
QUESTION 7. What are your Top 3 favourite coaching tools and/or resources?
1. Active listening and personalising the sessions to individual’s needs is the key tool for the success of the session.
2. I also regularly use Circle of Influence as a tool as I work mainly with overwhelmed professionals and leaders in healthcare.
3. The Coaching Tools Company resources are very useful.
QUESTION 8. What do you love most about being a coach?
I love witnessing the profound changes and transformations in individuals. It’s an incredible experience to guide someone from where they are to where they want to be and to walk alongside them on that journey. Seeing the domino effect of making a difference in one person’s life, leading to progress in their organisation and personal life, is truly inspiring.
There’s nothing quite like the moment when someone realises their potential and starts to thrive, knowing I had a hand in that transformation. It’s what keeps me passionate about coaching every single day.
QUESTION 9. Tell us a secret about you…
I love playing computer games and Pokémon Go. It is like a daily ritual, a self-care routine for me.
QUESTION 10. If you could change one thing in our world, what would it be? And how would you go about it?
I want every individual to take responsibility for their actions and be fair, kind and just to each other.
I will go about developing and integrating it as part of the school curriculum, coaching and mentoring and educating about the benefits of living in extended and multigenerational families.
