We know that coaching has the power to transform lives. The positive impact of one person’s coaching experience often ripples out to their networks, organizations, communities and the world at large. However, not much data yet exists to demonstrate this ripple effect on society. ICF is working to change that, and we are excited to announce the powerful results of the ICF Foundation’s Coaching for Social Impact Project, a pilot project that measures and evaluates the social impact of coaching.
Over a 12-month period, ICF-credentialed coaches worked with the leadership of Many Hopes, a nonprofit, and its six partner organizations to move the metrics of each organization’s strategies and goals, ultimately proving the social return on investment of coaching.
Individual leaders coached reported improved leadership skills and gains in well-being, and their teams also reported positive impacts. Because of these changes in the leaders and their teams, the seven organizations collectively rescued, equipped, and educated more children during these 12 months than initially planned!
“I would recommend coaching to other leaders because the value of having time and open, frank conversations with someone who doesn’t work for you or whom you don’t work for is invaluable.” — Thomas Keown, Many Hopes founder and chief executive officer.
